BANGI, Oct 16 (Bernama) -- Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centres have been urged to produce graduates and technopreneurs with electric and hybrid vehicle technology skills.
In making the call, Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Mahfuz Omar cited the setting up of Proton, which led to the establishment of local automotive vendors.
"The shift from internal combustion engines to electric and hybrid technology is a disruptive trend that forces all those involved in the automotive sector to change their knowledge, skill sets and infrastructure," he said.
Speaking at the one-day Zukunftige Automobile-Future Automotive conference at the German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) here today, Mahfuz said automotive designers, manufacturers, vendors, service centres and workers should undergo a paradigm shift in order to remain relevant.
The event was attended by some 200 participants comprising instructors at training centres, university lecturers and automotive industry players including Proton, Mazda and Toyota.
