PUTRAJAYA, Nov 19 (Bernama) -- A total of 81 per cent of  graduates from the Manpower Department training institutes (ILJTM) have been absorbed in local companies. Human Resources Deputy Minister Datuk Ismail Abd Mutallib said many employers were satisfied with the performance of the graduates at the companies.

"This proves that the skills training programme implemented by the Manpower Department is in line with the demands of the industry and current technological expansion," he said after the 18th ILJTM convocation ceremony at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) here Tuesday.

A total of 7,280 graduates have completed their training at ILJTM nationwide.Meanwhile, department director-general Datuk Romli Hassan said it conducted programmes for students of vocational colleges to train those as young as 15, to undergo education and training at Malaysian Vocational Diploma-level for four years at ILJTM.

"For the first phase which began last July, 495 students took part in a pioneer project in 12 courses carried out at 11 ILJTM, while for the January 2014 intake, 925 more students will be recruited," he said.

Since 1964, JTM has successfully turned out 170,107 skilled human capital through full-time programmes to help meet the needs of the nation's industries.
